The model's body is 1.5m x 3.0 m in size and is based on SRTM-Data which reproduces even the finest of the landscapes surface details. The broad band of the Upper Rhine Graben's meanders along with the trench flanks from the Palatinate Forest / Vosges Mountains in the west and Odenwald / Black Forest in the east, and displays a variety of sedimentary and tectonic features for the trained eye, which can be studied in a unique way on the model at hand.
