The animated sequence on "Volcanism in the Siebengebirge" simulates topographic conditions at the time of the Tertiary volcanism about 25 million years ago. Based on the geologic model for this period stylized landscape views were generated and subsequently animated. The special feature of this simulation are naturally designed virtual 3D topographies.
The preparation was carried out purely in a digital three-dimensional space, thereby opening up a wide range of new and unusual experiments. For example, virtual relief models may be the starting point for the production of physical reliefs by means of CNC manufacturing.
