A scaled miniaturised geological profile is intended to give an idea of the currently very differing deposits build up, volcanic and sedimentary, and the special mineralogical interactions that occurred millions of years ago when hot lava came in contact with the cold surrounding material.
In addition, a fictitious crosscut picture was created in miniature, which involved very detailed work and used original stone and sand.
The profile, and the corresponding legends are housed in a sculptured slim metal body. The legends can be found on a generous glass element, which forms the end of the visible face. Using the attached magnifying glass, details of the profile can be studied.
