Four very individually designed buildings are currently the prominent starting points for trekking tours into the Eifel National Park. Two of which, Rurberg and Gemünd, have been inaugurated in October 2005. The third one in Heimbach will be opened in January 2006. Finally the fourth visitor center in Höfen close to the city of Monschau is scheduled for completion through the second half of 2006. All visitor centers provide beside touristical information and services, permanent exhibitions on different aspects related to landscape, flora and fauna of the National Park area. The Interactive Terrain Models are either integral part of these exhibitions or add to them in a very efficient manner.
